A piercing line from Brazil’s most important author, Clarice Lispector, from her last work, “Hour of the star”. I’m very excited to announce that the Americas Society is honoring her on April 22. Fear not, the event is in English and without cost.

Filed under: Uncategorized — Linda Wadas @ 2:49 pm

Hunter College’s Dept of Urban Affairs and Planning is sponsoring a presentation by the one and only Saskia Sassen on Monday night, March 22 in the 8th Floor Faculty Lounge (Hunter West) at 6pm.  The talk is entitled “A Savage Sorting of Winners and Losers:  Global capitalism in our cities.” I’m confident you all know about her amazing work and am only linking to her web site as a memory jog.

Some of her books –
Cities in a World Economy, Deciphering the Global: Its Scales, Spaces and Subjects , Territory, Authority, Rights: From Medieval to Global Assemblages

Still fragrant after all these weeks

Finally!  The Dept. of Health nows allows beekeeping in NYC.  Will I try to establish a hive one the rooftop of my co-op?  Maybe I will, maybe I won’t.  But I’m definitely going to establish a bee watching garden this spring.
